If you work out hard enough, you get micro tears in your muscles which your body then repairs. Delayed onset muscular soreness starts 1-2 days after a workout and can last for a week ( Yep! That truly is no pain no gain.) This delayed muscle soreness is great, it is by far my favourite. It is a great indicator that you've had an effective workout, you are constantly reminded that your hard work did not go to waste! Delayed onset muscular soreness is also a great reminder that you have to keep feeding your muscles nutrtion, afterall, nutrition is the key to the lock of a great body!
Do not forget to drink a lot of water, not underestimate sleeping properly, stop making common mistakes to become happier!

That explains why i feel like shit the day after hahaha
Dude, I'd like you to do a post on blisters. Since I started running, I'm having huge problems with those.
DOMS are rough, thankfully they go away if you stick to a planned workout.
The sleeping part can't be said enough, even though 90% of the time I don't do it. But the nights I do, I find my workouts way more effective.
I've never really thought of that, but it makes sense.
Also, it's not really a tip as it is general knowledge. Just an opinion, don't mean to step on toes or anything.
Nice reminder and a great incentive. When i can, I choose the stairs.
my muscles have been feeling sore lately as i am running harder now that my tenditis has gone away. I'm glad it's a good sign.
Ive also heard that if you don't rub down major muscles after a workout a build up of acid makes them more sore the next day how true is this?
Excellent news, I'll keep this in mind after I lift some weights at the gym.
oh, i always just thought it was a sign that i was out of shape!
Oh... that explains a lot.
I do P90x, jiu jitsu, and muay thai kickboxing, so my life is a constant state of DOMS. I can't remember what it's like to not be sore... wouldn't have it any other way.
This makes sense! I try not to work out too hard when I do...because I rarely work out! I know my body can handle very little until I build endurance... :)
thanks for the tips! :P
I'm not in love with the soreness, but I do love a workout that makes me so tired I just want a nap. Oh exercise coma sleep, I do so miss you. I'm not sure, but I think you only get this from endurance training. I haven't felt it from just lifting or even martial arts classes, but I do get it after a swim workout.
I always take the stairs to comfort my self that i did my daily practice..
gotta love working out, falling asleep that night, and feeling damn sore the next day. its all worth it though
I love the burn you feel after doing abdominal exercises, don't ask me why :) The other muscle aches... not so much
1-2 days? More like double that for me.
I'm having body pains all over but I don't think it's because of that reason. I think my body is just weak.
That explains a lot.
great info :P
This is so true! I love a good workout that gives me this. I was wincing all last week because I had it from a killer leg workout.
i get sore for a week sometimes after if its my first session in a while. good to know the muscles are growing
This is great!
explains a lot.
i love water :D
I think my body started to adjust and I feel less pain than before. I guess I'm doing it properly then.
very interesting, ive always wondered about it
i lovee drinking water :)

I had this few times, but usually soreness come next day after waking up
Back when I used to work out a lot I had these pretty much constantly.
Yeah, the most soreness seems to happen like 2 days after.
Nice post. I like the feeling of being sore days after a workout. Makes me feel healthy, but it hurts.
